we’re set to touch down momentarily in fort myers where grandpa ensign will be picking us up and then it’s off to sanibel island. last night while trying to go to sleep early (yay for 6am flights) I tried to recall how sanibel looked. I haven’t been there in over 10 years, though I imagine it’s very much the same. sanibel froze in the 70s when residents blocked development efforts they saw taking over the coast. as a result few new buildings get permission to be built and the whole place feels of well kept 70s era vacation homes. at least that’s my recollection.
