finally corrected a mistake from my past. I backed the wrong pony last time a bought me an HD-DVD player. Less than 3 months later, Sony paid off Philips and HD-DVD was dead. But like many, I had about a half dozen discs so I just stuck with what I had; the sad song of early adopters.
today after work I made the leap and got a Blu Ray player. I then had to select from the meager assortment available at target. I picked National Lampoons Christmas Vaca and Twister (both on sale for 17). the first was grainy but detailed, nice but not much different from the DVD version. Twister was terrible. BR showed me just how piss poor CGI was in the late 90s. I could pick apart green screen, artifacts and a million flaws in rendering. It was like watching an amateur YouTube effects movie. i guess it isn’t BR’s fault, but still, I’m not enjoying my new toy…

My Beta still works fine and has a pretty nice picture too. Homer and I will resist any change. Best to ya…
